How to Use Columns and Dozens Betting Systems to Play Online Roulette

When watching or playing roulette, you’ll note that most players wager 50/50 on red or black, odd or even. Conservative gamblers will almost likely place these bets, whereas more liberal gamblers will spread their chips throughout the table and add a 50/50 bet to lessen risk.

Most roulette betting techniques are built around these 50/50 wagers. While they do pay out 1:1 when they hit, the odds aren’t exactly 50/50. For instance, the presence of the green zero segments on a conventional European roulette table gives it a 36/37 chance.

While it may be a smart idea to start your online roulette gaming trip with 50/50 bets, you may soon want to branch out a little. The next step is to place dozens or columns of bets.

Columns Strategy

The columns roulette method is based on a combination of an outside bet and a red or black bet. Referring strictly to the columns roulette strategy, we can say it’s one without so much planning into it. But before going into further details, let’s check out the three available columns and the numbers included:

  • The first column contains the numbers 1,4,7,10,13,16,19,22,25,28,31,34. Out of a total of twelve, you have six black and six red numbers.
  • The second column contains the numbers 2,5,8,11,14,17,20,23,26,29,32,35. This column contains only four red slots and eight black numbers.
  • In the third column, write 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27,30,33,36. This time around, there are eight red and four black digits.

If you want to combine a column bet with a red/black wager, you should clearly combine the second column with a black bet and the third column with a red bet. The first column has a 50/50 chance of being black or red, which is why a progressive approach is recommended.

In fact, any player who chooses this roulette technique to win can use a Martingale or D’Alembert system to increase their winning chances by combining all columns.

Dozens Betting Strategy

The dozens betting technique, like the columns strategy, gives you three dozens of 12 numbers to wager on. The 36 numbers are divided into three dozens, excluding the zero on the table. On a roulette table, look for the first 12, second 12, and third 12 spaces on the layout to clearly identify the dozens. The numbers you’ll bet on for each dozen are as follows:

  • First – from 1-12
  • Second – from 13-24
  • Third– from 25-36

The key difference between this technique and the column-based roulette wheel strategy is that each dozen has an equal amount of red and black numbers – six. You won’t obtain the odds variance if you combine this bet with a red/black wager.

There are numerous methods for betting on dozens. It can be placed as a single wager or in conjunction with other types of bets. For example, you can use a Martingale betting system on two dozen and get a 66% payout, or you can use a Fibonacci betting system on a single dozen and get a 66% payout.

The first entails betting one unit on each dozen and betting the same amount when you win. If the two-dozen bet loses, double the prior bet size.

  • Martingale Two-Dozen Bet

Let’s assume you wager $5 on the first and second dozen, and the ball lands on number 26. It means you’ve lost your wager, and you should make a new one with the same odds but a $10 stake. If this wager wins, you return to $5 for your next gamble and repeat the process.

  • Fibonacci Single Dozen

It’s simple to apply the Fibonacci betting technique to a dozen bet. To begin, choose a bet unit, such as $5. Choose two dozens that appeal to you the most and wager on them. If you lose, you just add the previous bet value to the total stake and place another wager. Because this is only your second wager, it will be $0 + $5, resulting in another $5 bet.

If this bet isn’t a winner, you’ll add the preceding value to your bet – $5 + $5 – for a total of $10. Continue doing so until you win, and then go back two steps in the Fibonacci sequence.

Takeaway

Nothing beats putting these strategies for online roulette to the test and seeing if they really work. It’s an excellent opportunity to try new things. You’ll be completely prepared to attack the wheel once you’ve grasped the mathematics behind it, either by using one of these approaches or, better yet, by inventing a winning strategy that suits your own thoughts and playing style.
